MVM Special Edition: #Platvnyl4 -Rock Video of The Year

The End is Here. The end of #PlatVnyl4 Video Awards, at least the genre based videos. We still have a few more general field video awards, including video of the year, but those will be revealed later.

The last award to be handed out right now is Rock Video of The Year. You can check out the videos in the original nomination post. You can check out the posted results for Adult Contemporary, Alternative, Pop, Dance, Electronic, Hip Hop, and Hard Rock by clicking on the appropriate links.

And the winner of the #PlatVnyl4 Rock Video of The Year is Not Gonna Die.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl4 - Pop Video of The Year

Our third category in the #PlatVnyl4 Video Awards is that of Pop Video of The Year. The five nominated videos came from a wide swath of the Pop Genre. In fact, some might make a case that a few of the videos might not qualify as pop. You can catch our first two categories, which were Adult Contemporary and Alternative Video by clicking on the highlighted links.

The nominees, which you can watch at the nomination post, are: Beautiful Love by +ShineBrightBaby ; Love Walked In by +The Sonflowerz ; Loved by +JJHellermusic ; Still Into You by +Paramore ; and Wanted by +Dara Maclean .

Like Alternative, this category actually went into a second round of voting. The judging panel decided to go with the spirit of Pop Music, which is all about having fun. So the second round was between Shine Bright Baby and Paramore, and when it came down to the final vote it was all about which band had the most fun.

And the winner of Pop Video of The Year for #PlatVnyl4 is Still Into You by Paramore.

Three categories have been awarded, and there are 5 more to go. (There are actually a few more then that, but they will be pushed into the regular award show). #PlatVnyl4: The Nominees - Song of The Year, Part One

This is it, fans, the final #PlatVnyl4 post, at least as far as the nomination process goes. From now on it will be all #PlatVnyl5 material except for Flashback Friday, which I have resurrected. The final category is that of Song of The Year. I usually go for mega anthems in this category, but the big requirement is that it has to be a song that makes you go WOW!. All of them qualify in the second respect, but not all make the first. A bunch of non-anthems in the mix. I have also suspended a lot of judging for this category, so there are a dozen nominees. And the nominees are:

Considering the number of nominees, I have made a decision to make this a two post segment in order to let people listen and judge. #PlatVnyl4: The Nominees - New Artist of The Year

I promised these posts and I am finally getting around to it. Things have been pretty interesting around here. You know, as in, "may you live in interesting times". I think that is a curse. We are going to do the big four, as far as I am considered. We begin with the nominees for New Artist of The Year. And the nominees are:

• Julie Elias
• +Everfound The Ordnorolov Brothers, though residing in Colorado, emigrated from Russia with their parents. Their nomination makes the farthest East the Night Beat family stretches.
• +Farah Loux  These Kiwis (New Zealand) are the latest addition to The Commonwealth of CCM. There are barely any Flaws with their newest release, which in the tradition of fellow commonwealth member IONA, is filled with non-traditional rock instruments such as a harp.
• +ShineBrightBaby The latest discovery by the Tooth and Nail empire, the Orville, OH band really knows how to jam, and songs like Love Endures and Made to Glow will not be forgotten very soon.
• +Jenny Simmons The former Addison Road frontwoman makes a strong debut as a solo artist.
• +We As Human Being discovered by John Cooper of Skillet is a strong point in this bands favor, and while they are not technically new (having formed in 2006 and released 2 EPs and 2 full length albums), their current eponymous release marks their Major Label Debut with Atlantic Records, all of the previous releases were Independent).
• +WHOSOEVER SOUTH The most unique rap/hip hop band out there. They blend the hip hop with Bluegrass instead of the traditional dance. I don't believe that anyone will be attempting to imitate them anytime soon. They are truly in a class by themselves.

Video by A New Artist. There is some wiggle room with this category as to "new" but not much. Sometimes they are debut, sometimes major label debut, and sometimes it's just that I just now heard of them. And isn't that all that really matters? MVM Weekend Edition: The End is Here

The end of the Weekend Edition of Music Video Monday is upon us. We all knew that it would happen, and now it has come. Now I've got to come up with something else on Friday. Monday we will kick off the PVA5 Videos and it will be all Monday. We finish off Rock and the 4th Award Video nominees today.

We begin our final session with Stellar Kart, who says, go All In (Apologize).

Most people worry about going down for the third time. What about the 7eventh Time Down. That's when it's time to Just Say Jesus.

Music Video Monday: Made To Glow

Welcome to 2014 everybody. It's time for the first MVM of the year, and we rock on with the conclusion of the 2013 Rock Videos. We close out last year with our last weekend post on Friday. New Year's SNAFU's caused a MV Tuesday that was supposed to be on Friday. Of Course, since +Triberr neglected to pick up the feed if you get it through them you will see two music video posts today. Sorry.

We begin with another great video from +skilletband. From the Perfect 5 Emerald rated album Rise, and one of our Platinum Dozen for 2013. This is American Noise.
+These Hearts is next. They've Been Through Hell.
One of My favorite seventies sounding bands is next. Seabird says Love Will Be Enough.
We end the Monday portion of 2013 with  Shine Bright Baby.  We were Made To Glow.

The Brave Ones, The Dreamers

To paraphrase Nicodemus, "Can anything good come out of Orville?" Well, except for Smucker's. The answer to the question is a resounding yes.

Shine Bright Baby is another in a long list of stars in the sky of Brandon Ebel. Their debut album, entitled Dreamers , is quite a refreshing turn of musical events. The band says it is somewhere in the intersection of Shiny Toy Guns, Katy Perry, Neon Trees and No Doubt. I never heard of the third one but checked them out on iTunes. It's quite an intersection.

According to lead vocalist Emily Irene, the name comes from the Bible command that we are to Shine Bright in the midst of a dark world, and shine they do. The album starts off with a bang with made to glow and barely lets you rest, though there are a few selah moments. My favorite song is the first of these. Love Restores is cut four.

His Love Restores. His Words are True. What this world breaks His hands make new. So do not fear, not anymore. He can heal what's broken and torn. His love restores.

They are a fun band, and that is fairly rare these days. The fun is evident on their first Music Video, Beautiful Love. One thing they probably didn't love was the cleaning bill.

A lot of Pop, a bit of Dance, and a little help from Kevin Young of Disciple on Brave Ones. Talk about a shooting star. I am giving Dreamers a final rating of 4.75 Emeralds, and that only because I am trying to avoid handing out perfect five's like candy. They deserve to be Best New Artist. Get this album.
