Music Video Monday: The Perfect Gift

Welcome back to our regularly scheduled, if a bit late, edition of Music video Monday. I promised we'd be back. This is kind of a rush job as I am trying to beat the Veteran's Day Rush.

We begin our Video tour with Everfound and Take this City (feat Joel of For King and Country).

Next up we have a video by the freshest sound in Gospel Music. The Walls Group. This quartet is only looking for some Love on The Radio.
Love on the Radio is a pretty good gift. But it may not be The Perfect Gift. That comes from JJ Heller.

#PlatVnyl4: The Nominees - New Artist of The Year

I promised these posts and I am finally getting around to it. Things have been pretty interesting around here. You know, as in, "may you live in interesting times". I think that is a curse. We are going to do the big four, as far as I am considered. We begin with the nominees for New Artist of The Year. And the nominees are:

• Julie Elias
• +Everfound The Ordnorolov Brothers, though residing in Colorado, emigrated from Russia with their parents. Their nomination makes the farthest East the Night Beat family stretches.
• +Farah Loux  These Kiwis (New Zealand) are the latest addition to The Commonwealth of CCM. There are barely any Flaws with their newest release, which in the tradition of fellow commonwealth member IONA, is filled with non-traditional rock instruments such as a harp.
• +ShineBrightBaby The latest discovery by the Tooth and Nail empire, the Orville, OH band really knows how to jam, and songs like Love Endures and Made to Glow will not be forgotten very soon.
• +Jenny Simmons The former Addison Road frontwoman makes a strong debut as a solo artist.
• +We As Human Being discovered by John Cooper of Skillet is a strong point in this bands favor, and while they are not technically new (having formed in 2006 and released 2 EPs and 2 full length albums), their current eponymous release marks their Major Label Debut with Atlantic Records, all of the previous releases were Independent).
• +WHOSOEVER SOUTH The most unique rap/hip hop band out there. They blend the hip hop with Bluegrass instead of the traditional dance. I don't believe that anyone will be attempting to imitate them anytime soon. They are truly in a class by themselves.

MVM Special Edition: Video by A New Artist

Video by A New Artist. There is some wiggle room with this category as to "new" but not much. Sometimes they are debut, sometimes major label debut, and sometimes it's just that I just now heard of them. And isn't that all that really matters? Anyway we picked the five best videos by some of the up and comers. And the nominees are.

Heat Advisory: The 2013 Fourth Quarter - Rock

We have come to the end. The Final Category in the 4th Quarter Platinum Vinyl Award Pool is that of Rock, by far the glory genre. It was kind of a quiet quarter for rock, with only six entries. This category has a lot of work to it, so 6 is pretty atypical. Still, there was plenty of heat this time around.

It's kind of fitting that we wrap things up in October. Decyfer Down rocked down the house with Scarecrow (kind of fitting for the Halloween season) and even took on one of the scariest things out there the Westboro Baptist Church. Everfound is a new band which expands the Commonwealth of CCM to Russia. And though it left you wanting more, how many groups around today will ever be able to boast 40 years of success.

The end is near. The end of the 4th Platinum Vinyl Awards eligibility year, that is. This is the time when a lot of upsets come in. Just when you think you have it all wrapped up along comes an entry in September that steals the show.

A few surprises here. I never ever expected to confuse a BTC album with one from Hillsong. The Power is gone from this release. Flyleaf's new EP with a new lead singer. Underwhelmed on that one too. The biggest disappointment was Relient K. A totally new sound, one that no one really expects. Too poppy. We go to the other end of the spectrum

Hunter almost goes without saying. A word on Wayne Haun. This one was promoted on Christian sites, yet the album is very cool Jazz, secular covers.
