Night Beat Rewind: December 2014

The final Night Beat Rewind of 2014. Where has the year gone. Not that I am complaining in the least. While 2014 has been the busiest year yet at Night Beat HQ, this is what I have been wanting. A busy year is a fun year.

December is one of the light months, with most bands and labels on a Christmas break. Sometimes I consider not even having a Rewind for December. This December was a heavy month, as things go, with 13 entries. I know, stop laughing. I know we can do 13 missed the mark in a month.

There was one Christmas Release in December. I guess the industry figures if you didn't buy them buy now, you wont, so why bother releasing them. That release was by Jamie Grace and her sister. It was entitled Family Christmas: Songs by Jamie Grace & Morgan Harper Nichols . As you know I won't do a list for just one, plus, this wont be considered for #PlatVnyl6 as Christmas Music is non eligible. I gave it a mark of 4.50 Emeralds. Very good for an EP.

There were also no singles released this month, so that was a bit of a surprise. That means we go on to those eligible albums which will be ineligible for an award because they weren't good enough.

Missing The Mark

It is really tough to miss the mark with a compilation. You get to pick the music. When you pick wrong, it can go very wrong. These sound like they've been mailed in.

No postal employees were used for our next bunch of releases. These are the

Pure Platinum

LA Symphony is back, way back in 2005 actually for their last release. I think this will be the first Rap contender for Comeback Artist of The Year. As to Kerrie Roberts, she is one of those artists I would pay to hear her "Sing the Phone book",  as they say. It is also technically an EP, with 5 songs followed by the same 5 in acoustic format. So it should only get a maximum 4.75. Did I say I would pay to have her sing the phone book?

Finally we go to the music that is somewhere in between. Not Perfect but very good and worthy of consideration in the Platinum Vinyl Awards.

Semi-Precious Metal

We have a winner folks. The first edition of Rewind in probably a year to be fully linked and ready to go. Welcome to 2015. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
