The Home of the Platinum Vinyl Awards. Reviews of New CD releases, mostly CCM but also mainstream releases that may interest the Christian Music listener. Music News and Commentary, especially when there's a CCM connection.
The last of the Beastly Trio is Live Recorded Album. I know that it is not technically a music genre, but it deserves a space of its own. And since it has its own award, it is appropriate that I do a quarterly check up. Let's get to it.
That concludes our beastly trio. Up next is our final three way tie, our heavenly sevens group. The first up in that grouping is Adult Contemporary/Inspirational. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
#PlatVnyl6 is now underway as the Nomination Announcements begin. The Road to the Finals starts here. We start, as always, with the Video of The Year Awards. Our second group of nominees is Adult Contemporary/Inspirational Video of The Year. The Nominees are: Be Like You by +Finding Favour ; The Joy by +theneverclaimVEVOMy Story by +Big Daddy Weave ; We Are One by +thecityharmonic ; and We Will Rise by Natasha Owens. Here is the Playlist of the nominated videos. Our next announcement will be for Modern Worship Video of The Year. Until next time I am Awaiting Your Reply.
We are in the final stretch. Two months to go until the entry pool for #PlatVnyl6 is officially closed. It's a total coincidence that the PVA pool closes at the same time as most city swimming pools. We have a full complement this month. We begin with the songs released during the month, or as we call it
The Singles Scene
EMYE - Jesus Pieces 3.75 Emeralds
Pastor John Littlejohn - Dear Hater 3.50 Emeralds
Stryper - Yahweh 5 Emeralds
The first two songs on the list happen to be rap, but that isn't why they got such a low rating. They just really arent't up to par. Just like our first bunch of albums, which are deemed to be.
Missing The Mark
For All Eternity - Metanoia 3.75 Emeralds
Various Artists - Top 10 Praise Songs (Green) 3.75 Emeralds
We Came As Romans - We Came As Romans 3.75 Emeralds
Three releases which missed the mark are pretty low, but good. The next group is a bit troubling, however.
Pure Platinum Perfection
Anberlin - Cities: Live In New York 5 Emeralds
Bethel Music - Without Words: Synesthesia 5 Emeralds
Flame - Forward 5 Emeralds
Thousand Foot Krutch - 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection 5 Emeralds
Kevin Max - Broken Temples (Deluxe Edition) 5 Emeralds
Uche Agu -The Glory Experience (Live In Houston) 5 Emeralds
Six entries here is a bit troubling, yet with the entries spread among 4 or more genres, all may not be lost yet. As always, our last grouping is our largest, what we call
Semi-Precious Metal
Kristene DiMarco - Mighty 4.50 Emeralds
Jon Foreman - The Wonderlands: Shadows 4.75 Emeralds
Israel and New Breed - Covered: Alive In Asia 4.75 Emeralds
Tim Hughes - Pocketful of Faith 4.75 Emeralds
Laura Kaczor - Restore Me 4.50 Emeralds
Memphis May Fire - Unconditional (Deluxe) 4.75 Emeralds
The Neverclaim - The Joy 4.75 Emeralds
Owl City - Mobile Orchestra 4.50 Emeralds
Poema - Pretty Speeches EP 4.75 Emeralds
Saint Esprit - Saint Esprit 4.75 Emeralds
Karen Clark - Sheard - Destined To Win 4.75 Emeralds
Shinebright - Only You 4.50 Emeralds
Switchfoot - 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection 4.50 Emeralds
Amber Nelon Thompson - Just Sing 4.75 Emeralds
Various Artists - SOAR (Spirit Empowered Worship) 4.75 Emeralds
Josh Wilson - That Was Then, This Is Now 4.75 Emeralds
That does it. I was a little surprised that Switchfoot didn't rate higher, because you should be able to mail in a perfect 5 with a best of album, but the selection didn't do it for me. I am forgoing links once again. I have to go way back and do them. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
Welcome Back to Music Video Monday. On this Dove Award Telecast Monday we're going to begin something new, for time constraints. This week, in addition to Music Video Monday, we will begin Music Video Friday. If I don't do this I will be doing past releases way into 2014 and still try to showcase the new stuff.
We begin this week with JJ Heller and a video which is sure to be Loved. Next up is a new band, Bridgecity, and It's all because. We go back to college, The University of Mobile to be precise. They want you to know that Our God is Faithful. We conclude with another newbie, The Neverclaim. This is One Truth, One Life. That's it for this exclusive Monday edition of Music Video Monday. On the debut edition of Music Video Friday, we will have videos by Audio Adrenaline, Jonathan Thulin, Hearts of Saints, and Plumb. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
