Flight 789: A Platinum Vinyl Update

It is time for another Platinum Vinyl Awards Update. Things are finally starting to look like they are in order here at Night Beat HQ. We are at the convergence of three #PlatVnyl eligibility years. Hence Flight 789.
  • #PlatVnyl7 - Way overdue. Eligibility for this year ended September 30, 2016 with the awards ceremony supposed to take place around May 2017. Judging is just about finished. Video Awards (+General Field Section): 100% Completed; Song Awards (+General Field Section): 100% Completed; Album Awards (+General Field Section): 11% Completed; General Field Awards: 25% Completed
  • #PlatVnyl8 - Eligibility Year (Current): Ends September 30, 2017. Reviews are currently up to date. September Rewind and 4th Quarter Wrap should be completed in early October.
  • #PlatVnyl9 - Breathing down our necks. Eligibility Year begins October 1, 2017 and lasts until September 30, 2018. Early indications point to a blockbuster year as we drive toward #10.
That concludes our update. All things point forward to a #PlatVnyl7 Awards ceremony in early October. Time to get back to the judging. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl7 Rock Video of The Year Nominees

We have reached the end of this portion of the Video of The Year Nominees. There is still the General Field portion of the awards to go, but that is yet to be narrowed down. Most likely we shall go to the other portions for a while. Those were completed first. Anyway, the nominees for Rock Video of The Year are: Back From The Dead by Skillet; Black Honey by Thrice; Rot by Lacey Sturm; Shake The Skies by FearlessBND; and Still Breathing by Veridia. Our last convenient playlist (for a while)
That does it. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl7 Rap Video of The Year Nominees

We continue with our announcement of the #PlatVnyl7 genre based Video of The Year Nominees. We are progressing slower than I would like, but we are progressing nonetheless. The nominees are: Everyone Eats by Alert312; Go To Work by Benjah; Hey Girl by Nicole C. Mullen; I Just Wanna Know by NF; and Nothing But the Blood ft Deitrick Haddon by GuvnaB. One note. Sometimes you can get your way to the top by being somewhat disturbing. So a warning is in order for NF. It is not a happy video. The Playlist of the nominees.

Next up is metal. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl7 Dance Video of the Year Nominees

We begin the Electronic Segment of the Video Award Nominations. First up is Dance-Synthpop Video of The Year. This category is a bit special as it has 6 nominees. Try as we did we couldn't get it down to 5. And some of them seemed to get more special as the judging went on. So we have 6. Usually Video of The Year explodes the category, so why not an individual genre. Let's get to it. The nominees for #PlatVnyl7 Dance-Synthpop Video of The Year are: Adventure by The Fifth Service (a band of Living Word Christian Center in Minneapolis, MN); Alive by Julianna Zobrist; Another Day by Alache; I Can't Quit by Capital Kings ft Reconcile; Love Like Fire by FearlessBND; and You Deserve Life by Kaimo K and Cathy Burton (via Bella Veleva). They will make you wanna move, wanna dance, and at least one may make you cry. Our nominee playlist.

Next up is the second of our all electronic genres, Electronic-Industrial. Until then I am Awaiting Your Reply.

Mullen; Meteorites by Lights; and Resonate by LoveCollide. Once again, we package everything up in a convenient little playlist.

The next genre up is Dance. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl7 Alternative Video of The Year Nominees

We are slowly continuing our announcements for the final nominees for this years genre based Video Of The Year Awards. We move on to Alternative Video of The Year. And sometimes with this category we mean both the musical genre and, well, if you watch the video you will know what I mean. To the nominees: Blankets of Night by Hammock; The Girl With The Tiger Eyes by Kevin Max; Monument by Mutemath; Take Me by The Ember Days; and Wow To The Deadness by Steve Taylor and The Danielson Foil. As always we package things nicely in a playlist. No errors this time.
That does it for Alternative Video. I will be off tomorrow. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

MVM Special Corrected Edition: Gospel Video of The Year Nominees

Correction: Soon after the original post was made it was discovered that two of the original 5 nominees were actually from #PlatVnyl6, which was last years award. JJ Hairston and Armar'rae Hill have been purged from the playlist. However that does not absolve the original error. The requisite 40 lashes with a wet noodle has been decreed and administered.

The next group of video nominees which has been narrowed to the final 5 is Gospel Video. The video awards are still being narrowed in most categories. Let's get to it. The #PlatVnyl7 nominees are: Heaven's Angel by Alache ft Ron Kenoly, Jr; Promises ft Canton Jones by Trisha Alicia; Your Love by William Murphy; Sinners (Saved By Grace) by Deitrick Haddon and Big Boi; and Better by Hezekiah Walker. Once again we have packaged everything in a nice little playlist.

We have to get back to judging these videos, but there is plenty enough to keep us busy at Night Beat HQ, so until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl7 Modern Worship Video Nominees

Continuing with our announcement of the nominees in the genre portion of the Video of The Year Awards for #PlatVnyl7, as the current award year is referred to. Our next set of nominees belongs to Modern Worship. While they have no shortage of entries in the album and song portions of the awards, they are a newcomer in the video portion. On to the nominees. They are Run Devil Run by Crowder; two videos by FearlessBND, Revival and Shake The Skies; Perfect Love by Cindy Cruse Ratcliff; and Stand by Sagebrush Church.

Once again, the nominees in a Video Playlist.

MVM Special Edition: #PlatVnyl7 Folk Video Nominees

We are trying to pull ourselves up out of a hole here at Night Beat HQ. One of the best ways to do that is to get going on the Platinum Vinyl Awards. This year (we are behind schedule) is #PlatVnyl7. We always use the Music Video Monday format to announce the Video Awards Nominees. Since we have narrowed a few of the categories to the final 5 nominees, I think it is high time to begin the announcement process.

We begin with Folk/Folk Rock Video of The Year. The nominees for #PlatVnly7 are Signal by Sara Groves; Beloved One by Jenny and Tyler; The Dream Alive by Vocal Few; What Do You See? by Mr and Mrs Something; and Band of Gold by The Grey Havens. Here is the video playlist.
That does it for this edition of Music Video Monday. We will try to keep this up daily. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply

MVM Special Edition: AC Video Pool

Welcome to a Very Special Edition of Music Video Monday. We are taking a break from the usual, due to a dearth of New Music Videos. We have to reload. Not to worry, there is still videos to share.

What we are going to do is share the Video Pool for the various genres in the Platinum Vinyl Awards. This is not the final nominees. This is the pool from which the nominees will be taken. We begin with Adult Contemporary/Inspirational. Currently there are 13 Videos in the pool, and we are always searching for additional videos. Either way, we will be voting on these to narrow them to 5. Here is the playlist for your enjoyment.

Watch, Listen, and vote. Yes, Vote. You can help us here at The Night Beat by commenting on which videos are your favorites. It will have weight as we narrow thing down. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Modern Worship

The final post of the 2016 4th Quarter Wrap is here. To no ones surprise the big winner for the quarter is Modern Worship, as it is for most quarters. Nineteen entrants is enough for around three years if they all made the finals. Let's get to it.

Modern Worship

That does it for the 4th Quarter Roundup. The 1rst Quarter of 2017 Begins. #PlatVnyl8 beckons, and it appears to foretell a Monster Year. Stay with me as we enter it. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Rock

The final of our ties is Rock, which provided a full complement of Seven Entries. If you've been keeping track you know who won the quarter, and you also aren't surprised in the least. You'd be surprised if they didn't win. Let's get right to it.

Rock Music

That does it for rock. And The Winner for the 4th Quarter of 2016 is (big drum roll): Modern Worship with 19 entrants into the pool. That's a lot for one quarter. Until next time, when we finish, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Adult Contemporary/Inspirational

We are back. Our final group of ties. This two way group is with 7 entrants each. Once this is done only the big winner remains. Let's get to it.

Adult Contemporary/Inspirational

We are back under way, only two more posts remain. Rock is next. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Live Recorded Album

The last of the Beastly Trio is Live Recorded Album. I know that it is not technically a music genre, but it deserves a space of its own. And since it has its own award, it is appropriate that I do a quarterly check up. Let's get to it.

Live Recorded Album

That concludes our beastly trio. Up next is our final three way tie, our heavenly sevens group. The first up in that grouping is Adult Contemporary/Inspirational. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Pop

The second of our beastly trio is Pop Music, which to some is really no better than Dance Music. Maybe so, but it isn't exactly the same. Enough soapbox preaching, let's get to the list.

Pop Music

This is a good quarter for Pop Music as well as both Beckah Shae and Love and The Outcome mined Perfect Platinum. This is shaping up to be one of the best Platinum Vinyl Awards ever, if not the best. I don't want to make such a pronouncement, however, since we are only seven years old, and things just keep getting better each year. The final of the beastly trio is up next, and it is Live Recorded Album. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Dance/Synthpop

As promised, the first of our beastly trilogy. That's a Book of Revelation joke for the Biblically Uninformed. Three 7's in a row may pave the way for Heaven, but three 6's. Of course the fact that this grouping includes Dance Music probably cements the feeling that Dancing WILL send you to HELL among Southern Baptists and Nazarene's. (The first grouping is legend, the Second I know from experience, as I went to Eastern Nazarene College). Let's get down to it.

Dance-Synthpop

There you go, music for the Christian to shake their booty to. GAWVI is a DJ as they call them these days, as opposed to Radio DJ, which I was.  Julianna Zobrist is only available on CD through Amazon. No Download. How Luddite. Pop is next. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.

A Perfect Scale: The 2016 Platinum Vinyl Awards 4th Quarter - Hard Rock/Metal

The final of the first three way tie. Hard Rock and Heavy Metal put together five entrants into the pool. Let us get to it.

Hard Rock/Metal

A Sweet album and A Stryper album in the same eligibility year. Are they trying to make the judges heads explode. Next up the first of a beastly trilogy. (My number is 666). Dance-Synthpop is next. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
