2021: New Year, New Hope

2020 was a difficult year for a lot of us, and we here at The Night Beat we're not immune either. While we weren't affected personally by COVID, being a small time operation reliant on public computers, government overreaction to the virus threw things into disarray. While we managed to piece together Awards for #PlatVnyl9 and #PVX, year 11 is a total mess and year 12, who knows?

Our Facebook Page  is going to be the most reliable source of information right now. You will even find out that a blog post will be active there. Mostly you will find video recommendations and news of album release,maybe even short reviews. We shall see how things shape up as we continue to reinvent things. Stay with us, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

#PVX Has Come

The Platinum Vinyl Awards, Tenth Edition has begun. Popularly known as #PVX, the Awards began with the Music Video Awards earlier in the fall. The Album and Song Sections begin tomorrow with the "minor" categories, with the ready for prime time ones following soon after. Keep in touch with it all on Facebook and Twitter

Quarantine Update

I am Back. At least temporarily. Since the end of the day on March 13 The Night Beat has been on restricted status. Posting on a mobile app does not allow for proper formatting, so until now I have chosen to only update my Facebook Page.

The staff is getting stir crazy. Youppi is constantly singing Frere Jacque. Still we have managed to use the less hectic pace to our advantage. We are catching up on our release schedule and have just completed April Albums. When full access is restored be prepared for a tsunami of posts, as it is also quarterly wrap time.

PVX judging is slow, but on a much better pace than year 9. The Awards have always been virtual from the start. While I would like to award a trophy in a celebrity/artist filled auditorium, such is not the case yet. At least nobody can force me to cancel. Soon though. First I will have to build the Emerald Center (aka The Dunes).

We crank up the volume all the way past limits now. Heavy Metal and Hard Rock had a very nice showing with 10 entries this quarter. It's gonna be headbanger heaven this year.
