We are in the home stretch with only three genre's remaining. Since Alternative we have met the final bar of 7 entries, and by the end of the wrap we will almost triple that amount. Hard Rock has 10 entries this quarter. The Loud Stuff represents.
Hard Rock/Heavy Metal
- Amongst The Giants - Obscene
- Evanescence - Synthesis Live
- Fight The Fury - Still Breathing EP
- Innerwish - Inner Strength
- Innerwish - Silent Faces
- Leah - The Quest
- Memphis May Fire - Broken
- P.O.D. - Circles
- Righteous Vendetta - Reignite: The Fire Inside
- Silent Planet - When The End Began
The Innerwish albums are re-releases from 2004 and 2006. The Ladies are well represented with Celtic Metalist Leah and Amy Lee represented. And we even have a return from P.O.D., a legend of sorts. Pop is next. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
No more ties, no more ties. We finish with our last group of ties with Live Recorded Album. They also had 9 entrants this quarter, which is enough to represent the genre in the final. We still have three more quarters to go, however.
Live Recorded Album
- 3C Live - Good To Me (Live)
- Christ Fellowship Worship - What Love Looks Like (Live)
- Covenant Worship - Covenant Worship (Live)
- Evanescence - Synthesis Live
- Sean Feucht - Wild
- Hillsong Young and Free - III (Live at Hillsong Conference)
- Tasha Cobbs Leonard - Heart. Passion. Pursuit: Live at Passion City Church
- Needtobreathe - Acoustic (Live), Volume 1
- Planetshakers - Heaven on Earth
Of this quite excellent list my personal favorite is Synthesis Live by Evanescence. The DVD recorded at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut is simply amazing. Amy is Gorgeous (as always) and is the true director of the orchestra. Everything revolves around her as it should. The best DVD of 2018. Hard Rock is next. Until then I am Awaiting Your Reply.
We come to our last tie. Four ties in a month (one was folded into a megapost, so we are merciful). This time we tie at 9 and Adult Contemporary and Live Recorded Album both met the bar. Adult Contemporary (and Inspirational) is the first alphabetically.
Adult Contemporary/Inspirational
- Anthem Lights - Worship
- Casting Crowns - Only Jesus
- Michael Farren - Fighting For Us
- High Street Hymns - High Street Hymns
- Selah - You Raise Me Up: Greatest Hits
- Russ Taff - Believe
- Unspoken - Just Give Me Jesus
- Victoria - Victoria EP
- Josh White & Josh Garrels - Josh White & Josh Garrels
I nice mix of new and old (and at least for one, some might say ancient). I was quite pleased to know that Russ Taff still has a bit of rock left in him. Live album is next. Until Then I am Awaiting Your Reply.
We are in a spot between ties. Alternative had seven entries and no other genre did. It stands alone. Wonder how that happened.
Alternative Rock
- Crowder - I know a ghost
- Eowyn - Just Believe
- Brooke Fraser - B Sides
- MAE - Multisensory Aesthetic Experience
- Twenty One Pilots - Trench
- Steve Taylor - Squint
- Veridia - The Beast You Feed
Eowyn is back with an awesome album, Steve Taylor releases a classic to the digital world and Veridia goes more alternative with a little help from Amy Lee of Evanescence. Until next time, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
Without Words. Instrumental music is the next up in our 1st Quarter wrap. Here no words are needed to make a giant impact.
Instrumental Music
- Celldweller - Remixed Upon A Blackstar Instrumentals
- Color Theory - The Majesty of Our Broken Past Instrumentals
- Hammock - Universalis
- Andy Hunter - Presence, Volume 3
- Scandroid - The Darkness
- Mark and Sarah Tillman - Morning Sun, Rising Tide Instrumentals
The industrial genius of Celldweller, the 80's synth of Scandroid and Color Theory, and the contemplative styles of Hammock and Andy Hunter. Just sit back and enjoy the mood. Alternative is next. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
From one tie to another. There are actually three sets of ties this quarter. We had a four way tie with 5 entries and now have a two way tie with 6. We also have a two way tie with 9. That's a lot of horrendous neckware.
Electronic and Industrial make the first of this pair.
Electronic-Industrial
- Celldweller - Remixed Upon A Blackstar
- Celldweller - Remixed Upon A Blackstar Instrumentals
- Crusoe - A Cure For Gravity
- Hammock - Universalis
- Salt of The Sound - Beyond Here
- Soulbreather - Come Along
We have really filled out the category with Folk/Ambient (Soulbreather), Industrial (Celldweller), Trance/Ambient (Salt of The Sound, Hammock) and Other Electronic (Crusoe). Instrumental is next. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
I know there are those who would dispute that Remix Album is not a genre, but the purpose of the Remix is to make something new out of something else. Since a good remix barely resembles the original it could be considered a new genre.
Remix Album
- Celldweller - Remixed Upon A Blackstar
- Celldweller - Remixed Upon A Blackstar Instrumentals
- Plumb - Crazy About You (Remixes)
- Scandroid - The Darkness
- JSteph - Glory: The Remixes
One big comment, about Scandroid. You may see The Darkness in multiple categories. It is one album, but it includes a section of original songs, remixes of those songs, and instrumental versions of the same songs. We go from one tie to two. Our next section is a two way tie. Electronic - Industrial is next. Until then, I am Awaiting Your Reply.
